Greetings and Salutations Good People!
As we move closer to Spring weather (I'm so over winter), I'm working on updates to the site. Today's project is Links. So as the day moves forward, look for more links to show up.
Possibly a second blog post today, too.
Have a good one!
How do you do it? Where does it come from? Two of the most often asked questions I get. My most common answer, it depends, is not very popular. Why does it depend? First, let me take you through how I created the art I’m using for the Mini’s. It will help you understand.
When creating the art for the Mini Messenger Bags, I used a variety of 2D and 3D applications. I felt abstract imagery was the way to go. I started the projects with 3D primitives. I manipulate or sculpt them, if you will, until I get the desired look. When I get the look I want from the 3D application, I render it. Render means to create a 2D image. At this point, I can decide if the piece is complete or if I wish to do more to it using a 2D application.
If you look at “Structured” you can see that I kept it very simple. I was expressing the strength that comes from the foundation materials used for building. Architecture is a hobby for me and I’m fascinated by how humans learned and developed the ability to build structures.
In “Rotations” I experimented not only on colors but movement. I went with cool colors, with shades of blues and greens. I chose shapes specifically to make it look like a structure that moves or rotates. Curved, oblong objects that look like fan blades, with spheres mixed in similar to planets. I worked in a 2D application to apply an effect to imply motion.
The first piece is simple and the second slightly more complex. When I started working with this style, there was a lot of experimenting. Going forward, there are times when I will work with a simple style or design and sometimes I will go with something more complex. Which is why I say, “It depends.”
When I sit down and create, I have something specific I wish to express. How I will do so typically develops as I go. The art I’m using now for these bags is one style of abstract that I work in. It’s an adaptation of Abstract Expressionism. My focus is shapes and colors.
In future blogs, I will discuss the other styles I create in and other projects I have going. I will also write about how I put my art to work, as well as a variety of other subjects that apply to art and what I’m doing.
Have a good one!
Farewell 2016! Greetings to 2017!
I have a new site and a new start. I had tried something different for 2016 and although some of it worked well, not all of it did.
Who am I? My name is Rosenn Caputo. I'm an artist and a crafter.
What am I doing? Using artwork that I have created myself and having it printed on a variety of items.
What kind of items? Right now I am working with Mini Messenger Bags. My goal is to expand to other sizes and types of bags.
In my next post I'll tell you more about how I create my art.
